Nasdaq up 0.56% leads the way
The US major stock indices are closing up on the day with the tech heavy Nasdaq leading the way higher.
- The Nasdaq is up 0.56% or 41.30 points at 7372.00.
- The S&P is up 7.18 points or 0.26% at 2728.12
- The Dow is ending up 9.36 points or 0.04% at 24884
Technically, the S&P index closed below its 200 hour MA at 2736. A move above that MA level will be needed to push the pair higher (see green line in the chart below).
Chip stocks did well today:
- Micron rose 3.29%
- NVidia rose 2.76%
- Intel advanced by 1.93%
- Broadcom increased by 1.61%
Other gainers today included:
- Netflix, up 3.24%,
- Alibaba, up 3.09%
- Caterpillar up 1.75%
Underperformers included:
- Tesla, -1.54%
- Boeing -1.06%
- Johnson & Johnson -1.19%
- Walmart, -1.03%
- Lockhead Martin, -0.82%
- Pfizer -0.68%
