Bloomberg with the news

Says that current BOK governor Lee Ju-yeol has been reappointed to the post for a second term, citing the presidential office as its source.

Earlier in the day, reports were saying that the nomination will come on Monday but it looks like Lee has been given the nod for a second term in office. His reappointment here is something of a rarity, as the last time a central bank governor in the country served a second term was in the 1970's.

South Korean officials with some comments:

  • Expects Lee to manage BOK stably
  • Lee is an expert on monetary policy
  • Reappointment shows support for independent monetary policy
