Bloomberg conducted a survey of 48 economists from 5 - 12 January

  • 2018 GDP seen improving to 2.3% (+0.1% from last survey)
  • Chance of recession happening in 2018 is 5%
  • 2019 GDP forecast at 1.8% (unchanged from last survey)
  • German 2-year bund yields seen at -0.65% (unchanged from last survey)
  • German 10-year bund yields seen at 0.51% (-0.02% from last survey)

Economists are also chiming in with a positive outlook for one of the Eurozone's major economies this year.

Last week saw the release of the preliminary German 2017 GDP figures here, which came in at +2.2%. Then, we had Ifo chief economist commenting thereafter that "there is no end in sight for Germany's economy boom".

The survey also polled the economists on France's outlook:

  • 2018 GDP seen at 2.0% (Bank of France and INSEE sees a 1.7% growth only)
  • 2019 GDP seen at 1.7% (+0.1% from last survey)
  • Chance of recession happening in 2018 is 6%
