Connecticut gives $21 million to Bridgewater Associates

Ray Dalio's Bridgewater Associates threatened to move his offices out of Connecticut to New York and, in response, the Connecticut government cut him a cheque for $21 million, the FT reports.

Ray Dalio's estimated personal net worth is $14.1 billion and he's the world's 60th richest person.

To be clear, it's not exactly a $21 million gift but it's close. The first $5m is a grant and the second $17m is a long if he creates 750 jobs.

Manufacturers have been playing the beggar-thy-neighbor game among states for years and now extremely wealthy people and hedge funds are catching on.
