The dollar is ending January on its knees

You get the sense this won't be the last time that Donald Trump laments the US dollar. He spoke about it today and reiterated some of the complaints about foreign competition in a post on Facebook.

The dollar is solid but I don't think it's strong enough to withstand a steady jawboning assault from Trump (or worse). The Fed tomorrow is critical but it's tough to see anything beyond a wait-and-see stance.

As for the market moves right now, cable is now up more than a cent on the day. That erases yesterday's decline but the level to watch is 1.2600, which was yesterday's intraday high. A close above would form an outside day.
