Video shows forest fire burning Fort McMurray man's house
This video is like a look at a single stock.
Days earlier a fire started in the forest miles away and no one worried, like a macro hiccups that happens all the time. But conditions were ripe for a firestorm, like an overleveraged world with low rates.
When the fire starts bearing down on the town some worry creeps in but the owners show that the house is fine. Even with a firestorm outside the windows, management points to the perfect conditions inside.
Finally, as the glass breaks and smoke comes in the owner can say the house is still standing and the power (incredibly) is still on.
Moments later the house is leveled.
Macro trades brew for a long time. It's tough to make money in a good environment but if you get the timing right you can buy fire insurance as the flames are bearing down.
