Well, that's a bummer. The Reserve Bank of Australia September meeting is today

  • The announcement is due at 0430GMT
  • I posted two previews yesterday: Australia - RBA meeting this week, quick preview ... and Its Governor Glenn Stevens' final RBA policy meeting Tuesday - preview

Now, from National Australia Bank (in brief):

  • Likely to be something of a non-event
  • After 2 rate cuts this year already RBA likely to enter in assessment mode, unless the economy is clearly deteriorating dramatically
  • What to watch in the accompanying statement - any commentary in relation to the housing market, and any further guidance as to how the Bank sees current momentum in the labour market

Looking further ahead:

  • RBA Governor elect Phil Lowe is giving a Welcome and Introductory remarks at an international conference organised by the Asian Development Bank in Sydney on Thursday morning.
  • We're assuming that this won't be particularly focused on current Australian economic conditions and hence won't be policy relevant.
