Trade balance data from the US for May 2015

  • Prior -40.90bn. Revised to -40.70bn
  • Exports -0.8% vs +1.1% prior. -4.4% y/y
  • Imports -0.1% vs -3.3% prior. -3.7% y/y

Better trade numbers than expected and better revision

Exports mainly to blame for the widening in the deficit. A problem all too familiar right now for US trade. Goods bore the brunt of the falls but services improved
