Outgoing president Hollande has now left the Elysee Palace 14 May

The keys to the palace, and indeed the nuclear launch codes, have now been handed to Macron and he prepares to be sworn in as France's youngest leader since Napoleon.

The hard work is yet to come though as En Marche contests all 577 seats in the parliamentary elections on 11 & 18 June.

More pressing though is the announcement of his PM which is due tomorrow (Monday). It's being viewed as a real statement of intent and will help show the path that Macron takes over the next few years.

Names in the hat include IMF MD and former French economic minister, Christine Lagarde who, one poll showed last week, would prove to be a popular choice.Other names that have been linked to the post include current Defence Minister Yves Le Drian, MEP Sylvie Goulard and centrist François Bayrou.
