Japanese PM Abe speaking in London earlier today 29 April

  • N. Korean missile launch a grave threat to Japan
  • international order under threat, international community must show solidarity
  • Japan calls on N Korea to cease dangerous provocative acts and exercise self-restraint
  • Japan, US and S Korea must co-operate closely
  • has high expectations China will play its role properly
  • hopes China will play a constructive role in implementing international decisions

Last night Greg had the story of another N.Korean missile launch literally flying, albeit failing, in the face of international pressure to cease such activities.

This geo-political risk is not going away anytime soon even if it doesn't always make the front pages. Ok, so it might just be a more dangerous game of handbag swinging but it's not getting any less scary.

Expect some risk-off sentiment to prevail in Asia with yen demand, always somewhat perversely imho, and CHF buying in focus.
