This is the graph of the Japanese core CPI, which exlcudes food but includes energy. it's the measure the BOJ uses as its 'core'.
Looks like a downtrend from around mid-2014 to me:
No comments from the BOJ on the CPI results as yet. But I bet there a few chairs being thrown through windows there.
