Ireland's ECB representative expected to be appointed this week
The Irish Times reports that the decision on who to replaced Irish central bank leader Patrick Honohan is down to four candidates.
- Robert Watt, secretary general of the Department of Public Expenditure, is considered the favorite.
- Philip Lane, Whately professor of political economy at Trinity College Dublin is considered a strong contender.
- Mary O'Dea, former acting chief of the financial regulator was Ireland's representative at the IMF and was also posted to the World Bank.
- An unnamed overseas candidate who is not Irish.
A finance ministry panel will make the selection after final interviews yesterday.
Here at ForexLive our #1 central banking criteria is the ability to easily spell the name and as such, we heartily endorse all the named candidates.
