There are 10 voting members of the FOMC
- Janet L. Yellen, Board of Governors, Chair [She spoke Aug 26 at Jackson Hole]
- William C. Dudley, New York, Vice Chairman [Aug 18 he spoke]
- Lael Brainard, Board of Governors [She speaks Monday at 1 pm ET]
- James Bullard, St. Louis [Aug 26 says he wants a hike before year-end]
- Stanley Fischer, Board of Governors [Aug 26 Yellen's comments consistent with Sept hike]
- Esther L. George, Kansas City [Voted for hike at previous meeting]
- Loretta J. Mester, Cleveland [Aug 26 she was hawkish]
- Jerome H. Powell, Board of Governors [Aug 26 "We should be on program of gradual hikes"]
- Eric Rosengren, Boston [Sept 9 warns on risk of overheating]
- Daniel K. Tarullo, Board of Governors [Sept 9 "I'm in the show-me camp"]
Add it up and that's a lot of hawkish talk but ultimately, it's not really about the votes. The FOMC has never gone against the chair. Aside from George, no one has committed to a Sept hike so the majority could certainly be convinced to wait.
