Evidently you can bet on central bank governors

Paddy Power is taking bets on the next Irish central bank governor and has Robert Watt at 7/2. Those sound like pretty good odds considering reports today that he's among the final two candidates (the other isn't named).

On the weekend, Mary O'Dea and Phillip Lane were mentioned among the final four candidates with an unnamed overseas candidate also in the final four.

Unfortunately the max bet is GBP55 but it pays out GBP192. I don't know all the ins and out of betting (I don't have a gambling account) but barring any kind of technicality, that sounds pretty good.

Update: We did it! It looks like the ForexLive army went to work and a few hours after this post, the odds on Watt were driven down to 1/6 and then Paddy Power suspended betting. There's no telling whether it will be Watt or the other, unnamed candidate wins but 7/2 was good odds for what looked like a 50/50 shot.
