French centrist politician Francois Bayrou puts his support behind Macron
Quick 35 pip EUR/USD jump on the headlines.
Bayrou has run in recent elections and was set to announce today if he would run. Had he decided to participate, he would have likely siphoned support from Macron. Instead, he pulled out and pledged to support Macron.
Bayrou had no chance of winning but had been polling at around 5-6% of the vote in the first round. Where those votes now shift will be key but the general thinking is that more will shift to Macron.
