What's on the economic calendar in Asia-Pacific trading

The trading day is relatively light in terms of central bankers and economic data for the hours ahead.

Eamonn is off, so we've drafted the Canadian to cover the election and whatever else comes up until Europe begins to crawl out of bed.

The main event to watch is at 0030 GMT when the RBA Minutes are released. There is no consensus about when (or if) the RBA will cut rates again this year. The decision itself helped AUD/USD to a 9-day rally so the bias is toward less-dovish rhetoric. That said, the statement may have swayed traders too far in the belief that no cut is coming and a dovish slate in the Minutes would lead it to unwind and hurt AUD.

At 2330 GMT, Canadian election results will begin to appear but there won't be any clarity on the winners and losers for a few hours.

The focus is on Japan later with department store sales at 0530 GMT and the Sept final machine tool orders report at 0600 GMT.
