Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz speaking over the weekend in Lima, Pere at the IMF conference:

  • Said it was "maybe an overstatement" to say IMF forecasts were gloomy
  • In Canada - confidence needed for business investment i building
  • "There are enough things that are on track that it still remains an encouraging global picture"
  • On China, said it was seeing typical moderation

Poloz won't be saying too much more publicly ahead of the BOC October 21 meeting (rate decision quarterly Monetary Policy Report at this meeting) but the black out period on comments has not started quite yet.
