At the World Economic Forum in Dunedoo, Australia Davos, Switzerland we get, amongst others, speeches from Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China and Swiss National Bank Chair Thomas Jordan

Not to be outdone, there are a couple of Federal Reserve speakers on deck Tuesday:

New York Fed President Dudley (FOMC voter) speaking at 1345GMT

  • Speaking in New York
  • Topic is consumer behaviour, not directly on monetary policy nor the economic outlook. Though we might well be able to figure something out if he remarks on household the savings rate

San Francisco Fed President Williams (FOMC non-voter) speaks on the economic outlook.

  • Speaking in Sacremento
  • Williams is in the 3 to 4 rate hike camp this year ... but like I said he doesn't get a vote
  • Speaking at 2300GMT ... oh, that's a shame ... that's during the Asian timezone Wednesday

Ahh, what the heck, while I'm at it .... the other event of focus in the US on Tuesday is the New York Fed Empire State manufacturing survey for January:

  • expected 8.5, prior 9.0
  • Due at 1330GMT

ps. From Wikipedia:

Dunedoo is well known to Australian travellers due to its distinctive name (Dunny is a colloquial Australian word for a toilet).
