New York Times report

The New York Times reports that the Saudi's are considering blaming General Ahmad Al-Assiri for Khashoggi's death. He's close to the Crown Prince.

"Even with the investigation still ostensibly underway, the Saudis are already pointing to General Assiri as the culprit, according to the three people familiar with the Saudi plans," the report says, nothing that the White House has already been given his name.

The story also says the Kushner has been telling Trump to stand by MBS, saying the furor will pass just like it did for the kidnapping of Lebanon's PM and the airstrike on the busload of Yemeni children.

"The Saudi rulers are expected to say that Mr. Assiri received verbal authorization from Prince Mohammed to capture Mr. Khashoggi for an interrogation in Saudi Arabia, but either misunderstood his instructions or overstepped that authorization and took the dissident's life, according to the two of the people familiar with the Saudi plans," the report says, adding that he was seeking to prove himself.

Assiri has been a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition that invaded Yemen and was promoted by the Crown Prince to his current position.
