Reserve Bank of New Zealand with one of its preferred inflation measures, the sectoral factor model

In a nutshell a measure of core inflation

Comes in at 1.7% y/y for the quarter

  • unchanged from the previous quarter

Earlier on we got headline inflation, showing 1.9% y/y.

As discussed (here) a lot of that was driven by fuel prices rising, which is not a core component … so this measure coming in under the headline will not be a surprise.
