Ever since (well, even prior to) the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) no change policy announcement last week, chair Janet Yellen has been under intense scrutiny and criticism

Traders and investors want clarity on how the Federal Reserve is making its decisions, and where policy is heading

For instance:

  • The Fed (and its head communicator, Yellen) says they don't let markets influence monetary policy decisions, but last week's decision and subsequent comments were a reaction to market movement. This is a contradiction and is one issue upon which clarity is sought.
  • Another, the Fed says its data dependent, but then shifts the goal posts (eg. lowering the unemployment target). Clarity, please.

Is this criticism reasonable and fair? Or not. What say ForexLive traders?
