Bank of Japan meet today and tomorrow

A preview of the Bank of Japan meeting and announcement on March 16 - 17

The BOJ meet today and Tuesday, with the announcement due from lunchtime (Tokyo time) on Tuesday (note - there is no scheduled time for the announcement, it comes when the BOJ is good and ready, thank-you very much). Bank of Japan Governor Kuroda will give a press conference following the announcement, this will be at 0630GMT.

• The BOJ is a long, long way from hitting its 2% inflation target
• Pressure to do so has diminished however, and the BOJ has become a little more ambiguous in the timing to hit the target
• The ecnomoy continues to grow only very slowly, Q4 GDP was revised lower
• The BOJ has bumped up its assessment of exports and industrial production

There is no change in policy expected at this meeting, although many analysts believe that more easing is still to come.
