Australia - Retail Sales for August +0.4% m/m

  • expected +0.4%
  • prior was -0.1%

There you go .... I outlined in my mini-preview what I thought would happen if the data beat, and also what I thought if it missed. I didn't do it for if it was on expectations though ... D'oh!

:-D

The ups:

  • Food retailing (0.6 per cent)
  • Other retailing (1.3 per cent)
  • Department stores (1.3 per cent)
  • Household goods retailing (0.2 per cent)

The downs:

  • Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (-1.4 per cent)
  • Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (-0.3 per cent)

AUD up a few ticks on the as expected result.

-

Food retailing up. Cafes etc. down.

We're all going paelo, you see.

So, go to the supermarket or whatever, buy steaks and cauliflowers ... and cook 'em over an open flame.

Hamburgers, pizzas, French fries .... no good ... too many carbs.

Clothing sales down too. How many loincloths can you own, amIright?

But, I digress ....
