Downing Street responds to article in the German press

Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper reported on Sunday that last week's meeting between May and Juncker was a disaster.

They said he left the meeting extremely skeptical that a deal could be reached because May was reluctant to compromise. People who were said to have briefed afterwards said Juncker put the odds of a complete breakdown in negotiations at over 50%.

Juncker's team hasn't shot down the report but a spokesman for the Prime Minister said "we do not recognize this account" and said it was a constructive meeting.
