We got the private survey manufacturing PMI from China today, a big beat:

China - Caixin Manufacturing PMI for December: 51.9 (expected 50.9, prior 50.9)

& Over the weekend (on New Year's Day - thanks China! ;-) )we got the official manufacturing PMI: Manufacturing PMI (Dec.): 51.4 (expected 51.5), Services PMI 54.5 (prior 54.7)

Reuters have a bit of a recap up now on these strong numbers:

  • China's factory activity picked up more than expected in December
  • Demand accelerated
  • Output reaching a near six-year high
  • Giving the manufacturing sector a solid boost heading into 2017
  • The index has been slowly building momentum thanks to a lending and construction boom
