Speaking to the Boersen Zeitung

  • QE could be ended in one step without any problems
  • QE could end after Sept if economy and inflation develop as now expected
  • Euro appreciation not a threat to inflation up to now, recent rise shouldn't be overdramatized
  • ECB should hike rates a "few times" before starting to trim balance sheet
  • There is a need to adjust ECB communication, should discuss 'intensively' how to change it
  • ECB should adjust policy guidance before summer

The ECB quitting QE cold turkey in September would be a big shift and something that could easily get the euro above 1.30.

The euro grabbed a small bid on the headlines and hit 1.2292 but offers at 1.2300 continue to hold. One problem is that Hansson is a hawk and he's only speaking for himself.
