There is always 'that guy'

The BOJ decision will be out shortly. If you'd like to know more about what's going to happen, check out our BOJ preview.

The short version is that no one is expecting anything today. Bloomberg surveyed 43 economists and it almost unanimous.

42 of economists: "We're 99.9% certain the BOJ won't act."

1 of economist: "Come on, Kuroda! If this happens, I'm going to look like a f***ing genius."

As an economist, if you make a bold prediction and you are wrong nothing happens. Mark Zandi has been wrong pretty much every time he's opened his mouth since 2006. On the odd chance that you're right, every financial news network wants to talk to the brilliant economist that out guessed the surprise.

What you have to do is to keep predicting the low probability events for long enough that one eventually happens. Then everyone will think you're a genius.

In some circles, this is called the Peter Schiff.
