Rising prices put more production on line

US oil production last week was 9,001,000 barrels per day, according to the weekly report from the EIA.

Production rose 0.3% week over week from 8,977,000 in the previous report.

It's the first time production has risen above 9 million bpd since April 2016. The peak of US production was in mid-2015 when it hit 9.6 mbpd.

With OPEC hitting the brakes and US drilling continuing to rise along with rising crude prices, the production record may be in jeopardy in the coming months.
