UK politics is in a state of flux right now with both government and opposition in disarray 10 July 2016

Angela Eagle has said this morning she will stand against her Labour Party leader to "heal the party" in what promises to be an acrimonious contest.

Said Eagle across various UK media earlier today:

"This isn't about splitting, this is about reuniting our party.I'm launching my leadership bid... I think we need someone who can heal the party"

"Look at what's happening with the Conservative Party. They are going to have a woman running. I'm a woman with strong northern working class roots. I'm a gay woman... I think I'm the right person for this job."

A vote of no-confidence in Corbyn by Labour MPs last month was passed by 172 votes to 40 but last year he was elected in a party membership ballot winning almost 60% of the vote.

The Beeb has more on the story here

With the Tory government still to choose a new leader/PM and with post-Brexit UK in an extremely uncertain place a general election before 2020 is still feasible. That means the Labour Party must be getting its house in order and providing a credible alternative at the earliest opportunity. On-going squabbles on both sides of the political scene have only added to undermine the pound.
