Stocks not impressed by Trump's "tax plan is coming" talk

The markets are coming into the close for the week. The chatter today about the tax plan coming on Wednesday has not been met with stock market buying. Weekend concerns about the French election results are perhaps keeping a lid on the market.

With 40 minutes to go until the close the:

  • S&P is down -7 points or -0.30%
  • Nasdaq is down -10.58 points or -0.18%
  • Dow is down -16 points or -0.08%

Trump has also just added:

  • There is no particular rush on healthcare reform
  • It does not matter if it gets vote in congress next week

I guess, the hope it was around the corner was a bit optimistic.

  • US debt is steady at unchanged to -1 BP across the curve.
  • Spot gold is up about $3.75 or +0.29%
  • Crude oil ended a bearish week where it was down over 6.5%.
