PPI sinking also aiding the dollar's fall to 119.38

Ok, before getting carried away let's look at the details. Another strong read in auto purchases is added to by an uplift in furniture and department store sales. Clothing and sporting goods also up. Gasoline sales the main drag on the numbers overall

So outside of the main areas that most dollars get spent on, there are some positives to take, albeit minor and not enough to suggest the US consumer is overly flush. Unless they're buying cars of course and then they seem to have money burning holes in their pockets ;-)
