Earlier today it was reported that Russia had intercepted a US plane over the Baltic

  • US Pentagon says the RC-135 had been making a routine flight in international airspace
  • Russian interception yesterday was "unsafe and unprofessional"
  • CNN reports that the Russian jet had come within 100 feet (30metres) of the US plane and had performed a barrel roll.
  • the plane, an RC-135, had turned off its transponder, which is needed for identification

The Russian Defence Ministry has replied:

"All flights of Russian planes are conducted in accordance with international regulations on the use of airspace.

The US Air Force has two solutions: either not to fly near our borders or to turn the transponder on for identification."

Says the ministry that regularly sends its planes around the UK and even up the English Channel. Funny ol' world.

Anyhow I'm off out to lend some support at our final home game to a Southend United team that has somewhat lost its way since January and now has two games left to salvage some pride.

Have a good week-end everyone and thanks again for your brilliant support.
