Reports the there's a consensus on tapering is incorrect, Constancio says

Social media carrying comments form ECB VP Vitor Constancio

  • Reports the there's a consensus on tapering is incorrect

  • There are absolutely no foundations to all the rumours about the future path of QE

  • QE will be ongoing until the inflation is back on a path to target

  • I'm very confident that inflation will be well over 1.0% by spring

  • Overall, our baseline scenario is materialising

As expected, EURUSD has dropped on the headlines and down to 1.1147. I've highlighted one comment there that sticks out and that's about inflation being over 1.0% by spring. That's not a direct inference that QE will be extended or halted, i.e what happens if it is well over 1.0%? But it could raise the question.
