Greetings all at ForexLive...

I've posted a few times on the BOJ today (along with Adam):

Let me just reiterate on the timing of the announcement ...

OK ... digression first ...

The timing of the announcement is important ... the longer it takes to come to us, the more likely there is plenty for discussion which may well mean they're all debating further policy measures ...

BUT ... dear friends ...

And, I repeat this 'cause I am seeing a lot of 'what time is the BOJ announcement today?' type commentary on the internets today ...

Most Bank of Japan meetings are two day affairs. But not today! Today's meeting is a one-day meeting.

What that means for the announcement time is that it is likely to be later than we normally expect it to be.

Most of the time we can expect the announcement at 0230 to 0330 GMT ... but that's for a 2-day meeting.

That time window has been accurate for nearly all the meetings this year ... but it was very wrong for the only one-day meeting this year so far. That meeting was on April 30 and the announcement came at 0404GMT.

So ... if we get to 0330GMT and haven't had the announcement ... that's cool ... that's expected.
