American Petroleum Institute data out a little earlier shows U.S. crude inventories rose last week, while gasoline and distillate stocks drew

- Crude inventories rose by 10.5 million barrels in the week to March 13 to 450 million, compared with analysts' expectations for a increase of 3.8 million barrels
- Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub rose by 3 million barrels
- Refinery crude runs rose by 82,000 barrels per day
- Gasoline stocks fell by 583,000 barrels (expectations in a Reuters poll for a 883,000-barrel decline)
- Distillate fuels stockpiles fell by 252,000 barrels (expectations for a 1.1 million-barrel drop)
- Weekly refinery capacity utilization up 0.2% to 87.7%
