Macron visiting the boss on his second day on the job
Macron was sworn in yesterday and he's meeting with Merkel today in an abundantly clear sign of the power dynamics in Europe.
More importantly, they have found some common ground on reshaping the European project. They both agreed they need more pragmatism. In the 'next few weeks' they hope to build a roadmap to reforming the Eurozone.
Merkel said she would be ready to change EU (and Eurozone) treaties but first they 'need to work on what they want to reform'.
Macron also struck some protectionist notes and said the bloc can't be naïve about others dumping on its economy and that workers in the EU need to be better protected.
