Rouhani reinvented himself as reform champion during election

Iran President Hassan Rouhani was re-elected with 57% of the vote on Saturday, easily beating challenger Ebrahim Raisi who earned 38% of the votes.

In a surprise in his victory address he praised former President Mohammad Khatimi, which is banned in Iran. Khatimi was a reformer.

Rouhani is outranked by the Supreme Leader Ayatollar Ali Khameni and that will be a challenge to his liberalization agenda.
