Fed's Kashkari opens a new front in communication strategy

Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari broke ground of sorts today as he communicated Fed policy in a new way -- the emoticon.

A displeased attendee of his speech today in North Dakota took to twitter to vent about getting snubbed on a question and Kashkari himself replied.

Kashkari uses twitter all the time. Yesterday he lamented American Airlines ripping him off on a refund for not using reward points.

Earlier in the week, he also retweeted a story that lamented too much Fed communication. His description says retweets don't equal endorsements (or RT ≠ E in short-form parlance). So what are we to make of that.

Even more bizarrely, he retweeted a response that called his commentary 'complete nonsense'.

So where does he stand?

We still don't have a real idea. In his speech he said the Fed's basic outlook is for moderate economic growth and inflation climbing back to target.
