NY Fed President Dudley and Vice-Chair Fischer to deliver speeches Thursday

Thursday is shaping up to be a big day for Fedwatchers. Back-to-back speeches from core Federal Reserve members Fischer and Dudley will shape expectations for the June FOMC.

Up first is Vice-Chair Stanley Fischer who speaks in New York at 1315 GMT (11:15 am ET). We don't know much about his speech other than it will be at a Fed-hosted event in honor of Michael Woodford's contributions to economics. That doesn't sound like the venue for a major speech but you never know.

That event that's surely to touch on the outlook for monetary policy is the 1430 GMT (12:30 pm ET) speech from the Fed's Dudley. Somre reports say the speech will take place two hours earlier.

The NY Fed says it's a press briefing on the US economy in a snapshot and will include a chart package along with a summary of economic data. Questions from the media are likely too, although not guaranteed.

The moves in markets Tuesday have come on hawkish comments from Fed lightweights Lockhart, Williams and Kaplan. Dudley tends to be dovish and Fischer can be a hawk but words from either carry weight.

Before they appear, the Fed will release the Minutes of the April 26-27 meeting. Here's a preview.
