Coming up in Australia today, starting at 2230GMT ....

Services PMI (AIG Performance of Services index for October)

  • prior was 52.3

Earlier this week we got the manufacturing PMI from Australia ... with the fourth consecutive expansion result! (The longest run of expansionary readings since July 2010.)

Of more focus will be the trade balance retail sales data, both due a little later at 0030GMT

Trade balance for September,

  • expected is -2900m, prior was -3095m

Retail Sales for September,

  • expected is +0.4% m/m, prior was +0.4%

Its the retail sales that'll be the most watched. If it disappoints (i.e a miss on expectations) we can expect a round of "I told ya so"s from the analysts who thought the RBA should have cut yesterday!

Oh, also .... due later we'll be getting some PMIs from China (I'll be back with more on this soon) ... but note these are the less closely watched non-manufacturing PMIs
