As if there wasn't enough sad news around right now we learn that Kiwi rugby union legend Jonah Lomu has passed away, aged just 40. Lomu's career was cut short by a rare kidney disease which has now killed him. The BBC has more here. Condolences to our Kiwi readers and followers of sport everywhere. Sad times.
Back to the markets there's no prizes for guessing that the FOMC Minutes 19.00 GMT will dominate the landscape, and there's little on the undercard from Europe
US building permits and housing starts before that may have impact but we'll be keeping our eyes on the wires for other headlines
