In USD terms,

  • 2016 trade surplus $510bn
  • Imports down 5.5% for the whole of 2016
  • Exports down 7.7% y/y

  • expected +344.5bn CNY, prior 298.10bn

Exports for December: -2% y/y (some 'leaks' coming from the China press, but I'm awaiting official data confirmation on this) +0.6% y/y is the figure from officials

  • expected -0.1%, prior +5.91%

Imports for December: +10.8%

  • expected +4.2%, prior was +13.0%
