So says Chinese premier Li after talks with Germany's Merkel 13 June 2016
- China is committed to cutting steel capacity
We'll believe that one when we see it.
- trade disputes with the EU are a small part of trade ties
- China does not want a trade war
Li's comments come in response to those from Merkel who had been somewhat scathing in her assessment earlier
- Germany is open for foreign investment and expects the same from China
- we should prevent an emotional debate on market economy status
- more talks needed on China's market economy status under the WTO
Over the weekend I reported the latest inward Chinese FDI data which showed a 140% increase from the US and 110% from the UK.
