Health minister issues warning

It's gone from bad to worse for Brazil in 2016. The economy is struggling and Fitch is out with a note forecasting a 2.5% contraction in GDP this year. They believe debt-to-GDP will rise above 70% in 2016.

Meanwhile, the Zika virus has caused birth defects in 3,700 confirmed and suspect cases.

Brazil's Health Minister Marcelo Castro told Reuters today the health crisis is worse than believed because 80% of people infected don't have symptoms.

The first cases of the virus were confirmed in Texas on the weekend.
