The Australian Business Economists have an executive committee

It compromises forecasters from the big Australian banks along with UBS, JPM, Deutsche and so on. 21 forecasters in total.

The Committee expect:

  • 2.4% growth in 2016 and 2.8% in 2018
  • This compares with the latest RBA forecasts of 3 and 3.25%

ABE Committee cite:

  • "Economic growth is expected to be moderate and driven by strength in net exports and growth in household consumption. Dwelling investment will also add modestly to growth, but business investment is expected to contract again."

On their RBA outlook:

  • A few committee members expect the RBA to cut rate further
  • "But the committee agrees that the bank is close to the end of its easing cycle"
